  5. here is a handy way to get the scanner to automatically
  6. stop searching when it hits an active frequency and remain there until
  7. it is re-started manually.  I wrote this up for Monitoring Times; it appeared
  8. there a couple of years ago.

  10. With the scanner stopped on any channel using the MANUAL key, press
  11. CLOCK SET followed by ENTER.  Now enter at least one numeric digit, but do
  12. not press ENTER after keying in the digit(s).  Instead, press SCAN.
  13. If you shut the scanner off, you will notice that the clock is not 
  14. running.  The digit(s) that you entered is displayed.  Now use the
  15. search feature as you normally would.  When it hears a signal, it will
  16. stop and remain on that frequency.  After the signal ceases, pressing
  17. any key that would normally give you an "error beep" (such as the ENTER
  18. key) will restart the search from where it left off.  If you do not wish
  19. to wait for the signal to go away before restarting the search, press
  20. the UP key until it is gone, then press a key to produce the "error
  21. beep."

  23. To re-start the clock after you're through using the search-hold feature,
  24. just use the normal clock-set method.  Incidentally, the priority feature
  25. will not work if the clock is not running.
